When should you book the post-construction clean after a Westport office renovation?
Book it for the gap between the last dusty trade and the first date the space has to look finished. Call before that gap opens, so the clean is already on the calendar when the last trade packs up.
In Westport, the office might be a suite downtown, a space in the Post Road business district or a building in Saugatuck. The order of work is the same in all of them: the trades, then the clean, then the people. Our Westport service area page covers the rest of what we do in town.
Way Beyond Cleaning is an owner-run cleaning company based in Fairfield, the next town to the east, and remodeled offices are part of the post-construction work we take on.
Which timing fits your renovation?
It depends on what still has to come into the space after the trades leave. Four situations cover most office renovations.
| Your situation | When to book the clean | What to have ready when you call |
|---|---|---|
| Trades still sanding, cutting drywall or finishing floors | Not yet. Pick the date now and clean after the dusty work ends | The contractor's expected finish date |
| An inspection or certificate of occupancy coming up | After the trades, before that visit if the space must look finished | The inspection date |
| Furniture and IT equipment still to arrive | In the gap between the trades leaving and the delivery | The delivery date |
| Staff moving back or the office reopening | Before reopening day, as the final detail clean | The reopening date and any building rules for vendors |
If the trades are still working
Wait. Cleaning while someone is still sanding a floor or cutting drywall means paying for it twice, because the dust comes straight back. What helps now is getting the free estimate done and a date in mind, so the clean can follow the dusty work straight away.
If an inspection or handover comes first
Clean before it if the space needs to look finished for that visit. A contractor handing a remodeled office back to its owner wants the dust gone when the owner sees the work. If the visit is only about code items, the clean can wait for the next date on your list.
If furniture and IT are still to come
This is usually the easiest window. Floors, sills, trim and surfaces are all in reach with nothing on them, and new desks and equipment arrive in a clean room. If the delivery is booked tight against the trades' finish date, give us both dates when you ask for the estimate.
If people are coming back to work
The last clean before reopening day is the final detail clean. It picks up whatever the furniture delivery stirred up and gets the kitchen, bathrooms and floors ready for the first morning back. In a shared building downtown, check the landlord's rules for outside vendors first, since they can decide which entrance and which hours a cleaner gets. Our post on who cleans what in a multi-tenant office building goes further on that.

What does a post-construction clean cover in a renovated office?
It covers the dust and the surfaces, not the construction. Our post-construction cleaning list is dust removal from surfaces, vacuuming and mopping, kitchens and bathrooms, interior surfaces, window sills and trim, cabinet exteriors, and a final detail clean.
Debris removal isn't on that list, so ask about it when you call, or agree with your contractor who clears it. We don't do the construction itself. The clean starts once the building work is finished.
What should you tell us when you ask for a quote?
Four things, and a rough answer to each is enough for a free estimate.
- The type of space and roughly how big it is.
- What work was done, such as remodeling, painting, flooring or a full renovation.
- Your dates: when the trades finish, when the furniture arrives and when people come back.
- Any building rules for outside vendors, like which entrance or which hours a cleaner can use.
You get a free estimate and a written proposal before any work starts. Post-construction jobs are priced on that estimate rather than a set rate, because no two renovations leave the same mess.
Can the clean happen outside business hours?
In many cases, yes. It depends on the property, on access and on what the space needs. That matters most when part of the office is already back in use while another part is still being finished, so mention it when you call.
What happens after the office reopens?
Once people are back, the job changes from a one-time clean to keeping the space clean. Recurring office cleaning starts at $150 per visit for a smaller office, and our office cleaning page covers what a regular visit can include. Our guide to commercial cleaning contracts explains how to write that scope down.
